Storming the Radio Airwaves

So after 24 hours of travel and a five hour time differences, a sudden change to my personal schedule. After a quick chat with Dave (Daisies manager), I met up with the band at their hotel and headed out to New Jersey for a live appearance on the radio at WDHA 105.5.

Catching up with the guys on the bus while sitting with Jon and Dizzy, they updated me on how well the Bad Company/Lynyrd Skynrd dates well as well as sharing some Kiss fan stories with drummer Brian Tichy.

Sat with the band while Jon, Marco, Richard and Brian went over some acoustic renditions of ‘Yesterday’, ‘Lock N’ Load’ and its ‘Gonna Take Time’ in preparation for the radio appearance.

This followed with the radio appearance featuring ‘Washington’ and ‘Face I Love’ being played live along with an interview by DJ Terri with Jon.

We then made our way back to Manhattan where myself and Marco had a long chat about music and the philosophies of when it feels good to be in a musical situation when its all coming together.

The traffic jams in the Lincoln Tunnel were horrendous but we all arrived back just in time to relieve any added pressure (go for a wiz)!

As ever, it always strikes me how down to earth and completely relaxed and chilled the guys are, just like you and me apart from that awesome music of course!

Tomorrow is Rehearsal Day 1.

Incase you are wondering who the guy in the Lonsdale t-shirt is, thats Tommy, he is the guy who makes it all happen when the Daisies play live! and he is one of the coolest dudes on the plant!

Arrived in New York

Wednesday So after a car journey, plane journey, a delayed long plane journey, a subway ride and walk I arrived at my accommodation late last night.

The band have also arrived in New York and I will meet up with them tomorrow when they start their rehearsals before joining the tour.

Look out for some interviews with the band and pics while they prepare for what looks like a massive tour for them.

Today will be an exploration of parts of the Big Apple.

Departure Day #THEDEADDAISIES

The bags are packed, well nearly. Now for the road trip followed by flight 1 then Transatlantic from London to New York.

Slight change to plans with band rehearsals and transportation which sees me back in Scotland next Wednesday rather than Friday but will see the guys on Thursday as they make their final preparation for joining the 'Ultimate Rock Tour' with KISS and Def Leppard.

A quick goodbye to the family cat who just threw herself at the window chasing a neighbourhood rival cat caught looking in the window and we will be on the road.

Will next touch base in New York!

Getting Ready #THEDEADDAISIES

So its Sunday here in a wet, rainy north Scotland as I start to pack my bag for the adventure of adventures (well for me anyway). On Tuesday I fly to New York to meet up with The Dead Daisies then go on the road for their first four dates of the Def Leppard/KISS tour.

Growing up, my first rockstar was Paul Stanley, my first rock band was KISS and my first real live gig was KISS at the Edinburgh Playhouse. Pyromania was my favourite album throughout my youth until I discovered the debut album from Jon Stevens and Noiseworks in 1987.

Having met most of the band in December including Jon, it will be great to reconnect with them and watch from the sidelines as The Dead Daisies grow in to one of greatest classic rock bands of a new era.

Roll on Tuesday!
